ABOUT US
Cornerstone Recovery Inc. was founded in 2003. Initially, we provided alcohol and drug counseling to adult men at the Oak Park Community Center.
In 2009, we included anger management and domestic violence services for
adults and youths.  Cornerstone Recovery Inc. provides quality Anger Management and Domestic Violence classes for those struggling with feelings of rage and stress. Our classes focus on the consequences of anger while teaching techniques to avoid violent behavior.
Anger Management classes for adults are designed to address  the stressors of life that lead to violence. It also focuses on the destructive consequences of aggressive behavior. The curriculum is derived from the Anderson and Anderson publication “Gaining Control of Ourselves.”
This publication has been overwhelmingly successful in illuminating how and why anger can control our lives and ways to reduce and redirect the stress and tension that results in overtly aggressive behaviors.
Originally developed for court ordered participants, this complete guide focuses on the causes of anger and provides alternatives to violent outburst and abusive behavior through educational lessons that challenge old and inappropriate ways  of expressing anger. The lessons in this workbook enable readers to understand the signs and signals that lead them to anger and supplies usable techniques to dissipate that anger before it gets out of control.
Our batterers group help men and women learn acceptable ways to communicate in relationships without resorting to violence. We use the Power and Control Wheel and the Equality Wheel developed by the Duluth Domestic Violence Intervention Project along with video material from Anderson and Anderson and other resources. These materials are designed to assist clients to move away from controlling, violent, abusive behavior and achieve equality-based male-female relationships.
We also provide one on one Executive Coaching. These classes would cater primarily to law enforcement officers as well as employees of private industry and city government.

Miguel Chavez came to our program in 2011 with a history of anger and aggression.
He now enjoys a happy and peaceful life with his beautiful family.
Miguel invited me over to his home for a home cooked meal and reported that he understands the importance of avoiding negative communication to avoid future problems and, more importantly, to be a positive role model to his family!
